Jarnail Singh Sacked
Dainik Jagran journalist Jarnail Singh was sacked about three months after he threw a shoe at Union home minister P Chidambaram. He had thrown his shoe at Chidambaram at a press conference at the Congress headquarters.
Jarnail Singh was a defence correspondent with Dainik Jagran for nearly a decade. According to Jarnail Singh his services with the newspaper were terminated following a show-cause notice issued about 3 months ago. “I have been victimised for raising a genuine issue concerning the 1984 anti-Sikh riots,” he said.
Jarnail Singh, was attending a press conference of Mr. Chidambaram in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections on April 7 when he posed questions to the Minister on the “clean chit” given by CBI to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, who is an accused in the anti-Sikh riots case following then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination.
Not satisfied with Mr. Chidambaram’s reply, Jarnail flung his sneakers at Chidambaram. The shoe failed to hit the target but it set the Congress rethinking on giving tickets to Tytler and Sajjan Kumar, whose name had also cropped up in the riots. The two were denied tickets to contest Lok Sabha elections.

जरनैल सिंह को नौकरी से निकले जाने का दुःख तो है पर शायद उसे उसके पत्रकारीय काम के कारण नहीं निकाला गया होगा. पर यदि विशेष सुविधा का दुरुपयोग अपनी भावनाओं को व्यक्त करने में कर रहा था और उसका काम पूरे पत्रकार जगत को कलंकित कर रहा था तो उसे पहले ही निकल दिया जाना चाहिए था.

Aapki aalochna sir mathe par. Lekin patrakarita ki maryada aaj kinake jooton tale hai us par bhi kuch kahein. Maine galat kiya lekin issue sahi tha. Lakin jo paisa lekar khabar chhapen? Jo akhabaar paise na dekar reporter ko dalali karane ko majboor karein, jo akhabaar paisa lekar chunav harvayein aur jitvayein, jo log khabron ko deliberately galat angle dekar likhein, jo akhabaar ke naam par blackmailing karein, jo imaandari se kaam karane par patrakar ko hi saja dein, jo akhabaar neta ke kahne par patrakar ko akhabaar se nikal dein, jo akhabaar mafia ko bhi advt. lekar doodh ka dhula batayein wo mujahse kahin badhe apradhi hein. Agar aap isi tarah sarvjanik taur par un sabke khilaaf bolein to mujhe aapki aalochna par naaj hoga.
